Students learning together in a classroom setting

30-second overview

Diagnostic-first tutoring, explained

Every program starts with a calm adaptive check-in—not a high-stakes exam. We map Australian Curriculum strands, build a personalised study pathway, and track delivery in the parent portal.

Quick read

Read this in about 30 seconds

  1. 1

    Short adaptive check-in

A computer-adaptive placement tuned to year band—fewer questions, sharper picture across maths, science, English, and thinking skills.

  2. 2

Gap map, not a single score

Tutors and families see which strands need work—number, algebra, reading, scientific reasoning—without reducing your child to one number.

  3. 3

    Personalised study plan

A living pathway sequences skills, practice, and check-ins. Plans update as mastery improves so tutoring compounds instead of repeating the syllabus.

  4. 4

    Portal-tracked sessions

Live tutoring, tasks, and feedback stay in one hub. Parents get visibility; students build plan → attempt → review → improve habits.

What a placement summary can look like

Illustrative only—your child’s real check-in is personalised to year level and subjects enrolled. We use this to sequence tutoring, not as a report-card grade.

Year 8 · Mathematics (illustrative)

  • Number & algebraDeveloping

Fractions and linear patterns—priority for weeks 1–2

  • Measurement & geometrySecure

    Maintain with mixed revision

  • Statistics & probabilityEmerging

Study plan (sample)

Sequenced by tutors after placement

  1. Week 1

    Fraction operations & error-checking routines

  2. Week 2

    Linear patterns → simple equations

  3. Week 3

    Word problems with structured working

  4. Week 4

Timed mixed practice + tutor check-in

After placement, parents receive a plain-language summary: what we are targeting, how sessions will run, and what practice at home looks like—without sitting in every lesson.

What it is not

  • Not a stressful exam day—students get a calm check-in experience
  • Not doing assignments for your child—we teach methods and independence
  • Not a generic worksheet stack—plans follow Australian Curriculum strands

FAQ

Common questions about placement

How long does placement take?

Most learners finish in one sitting—often under 45 minutes depending on year level and how the adaptive engine converges. You can pause and resume where supported.

Is placement included when we enrol?

Yes. Adaptive placement and an initial study pathway are part of how we operate—not an optional add-on.

Can we skip placement?

We strongly recommend it so sessions target real gaps. If you have recent school reports or prior diagnostics, tell us in your enquiry—we still use placement to calibrate the portal plan.

Ready to start with placement included?

Enrol online or book a consultation—we will confirm year level, subjects, and how the first check-in fits your schedule.
