Set up your child on any device
Phone, tablet, or laptop — scan the parent QR and your child is signed in. No passwords or sign-in IDs for them to type.
Parent responsibility
Only show the QR or link to your own child. Anyone who scans it can open their portal until the link expires (15 minutes). You are responsible for keeping setup links private — do not share them in group chats or social media.
Why this is secure
- QR links expire after 15 minutes and work once — they cannot be reused if someone else finds an old link.
- One-time use — each link works once, then your child stays signed in on that device.
- Parent controls access — only you generate the link from your account. Keep it private until your child scans it.
- Each device signs in separately — a session on an iPad does not automatically log in a laptop; add each device with a fresh QR from the parent account.
Parent opens Children & sign-ins
On a phone or computer, sign in to the parent portal and open Children & sign-ins for the child.
Show the setup QR or link
MindMap generates a secure link (valid 15 minutes). Keep that screen open on the parent's device.
Set up the student's device
Tablet or phone: scan the QR with the Camera app. Laptop: open mindmapservices.com/portal/setup/enter on the laptop and type the 6-character setup code from the parent's screen.

Signed in automatically
The portal opens and signs your child in — no password, no sign-in ID to type. They just wait a moment.
Stay signed in
MindMap keeps them signed in on this device for about 30 days. Closing the tab does not sign them out.
Adding another device (laptop, phone, or second tablet)
Already set up an iPad and need a laptop too? You do not share one login across devices automatically — that keeps accounts safe if a device is lost.
- Parent opens Children & sign-ins again and taps Generate new QR for that child.
- Open the new link on the second device (scan or copy link).
- They are signed in automatically — nothing to type.
- Add MindMap to the home screen or bookmark on that device.
After setup on this device
iPad or iPhone
In Safari, tap Share → Add to Home Screen so MindMap opens like an app.
Android phone or tablet
In Chrome, open the menu → Add to Home screen or Install app.
Laptop
Bookmark the portal — they stay signed in when they return.
